Better late then never, right?
I've finally got round to organising a WC 2018 sweepstake.
It's £10 for entry, of which half will be put into a 'top scoring player' pool and half into 'winning team' pool. Winner takes all in both cases, no charity donations, prizes for second place, etc.
Given the late hour I anticipate far fewer than 32 entries, meaning that I'll allocate multiple teams (as many as i can) to each entrant [e.g. if we have 11 players i'll allocate everybody one team from the 1st-11th ranked sides, then a second team from the 12-22nd ranked teams, the bottom 10 teams going unallocated]. If one of the bottom 10 teams gets the cup, I'll give the winning team prize to the tournament runners up [or third or fourth place etc]. if unallocated teams make up **all four** semifinalists then the entire winning team prize pool will be donated to cancer research.
In terms of top scorer I'll do something similar, depending on how many entrants we get, e.g. If 11 entrants I'll pick from the bookies' 22 most fancied players (bet 365, odds as of 8pm tonight). In the event of two players finishing level on most goals scored I'll go with whatever ridiculous tie breaker technique uses to allocate the golden boot (e.g. Number of assists, number of bookings, penile length, etc). In the event of un-allocated player top scoring I'll award the prize to the top scoring allocated player (sharing the prize in the event of a draw).
Places allocated to anyone who sends me £10 by midday [Leeds time] tomorrow. Paypal, TFPpublic@gmail.com
. *please* include your forum moniker as a reference. I'll make the draw before kickoff in the Russia game, using some no doubt ridiculous method that will be audited for fairness by Phil.
