There was a Spanish centre half we were linked with every year in the 90’s… nadal? Nickname the beast (I think).

Re: Trialists, Transfers & Speculation
Dyer and Riise were close as far as I remember, us or them which both ended with the other club offering a better deal. We were serious about Gvardiol 2 years ago but he didn't feel ready for the EPL and took a safer option. Now looks like he'll be the real deal and his next move will be £35m+ not £15m.eric olthwaite wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:59 amI think, to count, potential transfers have to got as far as ‘club / player in negotiations’ rather than media bullshit. Are these all compliant?
Can't speak for TFP's list in full but definitely:
Erling Haaland (we had him in the building and told him we saw him in the U23s initially because we were signing Bamford)
Joel Ward (the one we didn't get when taking advantage of Pompey's financial trouble)
Ashley Barnes (fucked about by Cellino so went to Burnley)

Miguel Angel Nadal. Rafa’s uncle. And you’re right, he was nicknamed the Butcher of Barcelona. Which is a fantastic nickname.Wakefield White wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 1:14 pmThere was a Spanish centre half we were linked with every year in the 90’s… nadal? Nickname the beast (I think).

the talk is that ronaldo is going to saudi. would be a shame imo. he doesn't even vaguely need to chase the money. he should be going somewhere with a good lifestyle for him and his kids. why not the MLS?

The lifestyle for someone who, presumably, isn’t particularly fond of drink and is earning £200m a year must be pretty close to paradise in Saudi.

mm. i mean, assuming you were paying for a top-of-the-range, celeb-friendly, place, would you rather your kids went to school in, say, new york, LA, or riyadh? there'll be a number of expensive international schools there of course but i can't think that any of the parents will even nearly be 'people like us' from ronaldo's perspective... whereas at, say, at an international school like the ones that the beckhams sent their kids to in LA i daresay many or even most are?MightyWhite wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 1:41 pmThe lifestyle for someone who, presumably, isn’t particularly fond of drink and is earning £200m a year must be pretty close to paradise in Saudi.

I'm under the impression it's safer to let you kids play on the M1 than send them to a school in the US.the flying pig wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 2:03 pmmm. i mean, assuming you were paying for a top-of-the-range, celeb-friendly, place, would you rather your kids went to school in, say, new york, LA, or riyadh? there'll be a number of expensive international schools there of course but i can't think that any of the parents will even nearly be 'people like us' from ronaldo's perspective... whereas at, say, at an international school like the ones that the beckhams sent their kids to in LA i daresay many or even most are?MightyWhite wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 1:41 pmThe lifestyle for someone who, presumably, isn’t particularly fond of drink and is earning £200m a year must be pretty close to paradise in Saudi.

Re: Trialists, Transfers & Speculation
mm, i dunno. all of the really big US school shootings [i know there have been dozens, i only know the handful of especially deadly and hence famous ones] took place on big, sprawling, rural/suburban 'campuses' whose grounds had dozens of entry points. in manhattan especially [where guns obviously aren't nearly so common as in the bible belt or wherever] there are loads of schools that are part of a large terrace/block, backing onto other terraced properties, with a single entry point, namely a big front door with cameras etc. those places are secure. and in general, anywhere where the richest celebs send their kids will be relatively safe.AndyPaul wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 2:26 pmI'm under the impression it's safer to let you kids play on the M1 than send them to a school in the US.the flying pig wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 2:03 pmmm. i mean, assuming you were paying for a top-of-the-range, celeb-friendly, place, would you rather your kids went to school in, say, new york, LA, or riyadh? there'll be a number of expensive international schools there of course but i can't think that any of the parents will even nearly be 'people like us' from ronaldo's perspective... whereas at, say, at an international school like the ones that the beckhams sent their kids to in LA i daresay many or even most are?MightyWhite wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 1:41 pmThe lifestyle for someone who, presumably, isn’t particularly fond of drink and is earning £200m a year must be pretty close to paradise in Saudi.

I'm under the impression that he isn't aloud or may not want to enter the US something to do with a Las Vegas hotel potentially out standing charges or something, unless that was taken care of?

Just checking: TSB is still (mostly) Leeds related, yes?
THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE WE DISCUSSSING ARCH CUNT RONALDO'S POSSIBLE TRANSFER DESTINY? IT'S NOT LIKE HE'S ABOUT TO TURN UP IN LS11 FFS.
Aaaaand breathe...

TBF in about 3 posts in true TSB fashion we've moved on to another subject rapidly. In this case school shootings and letting you kids play on railway tracks.

We have the EPL or barometer thread for shit like this, but we all know TFP is a Scum member so he probably just posted on the wrong forum

Re: Trialists, Transfers & Speculation
Is there not still a rape allegation to deal with should he arrive on US soil (civil case, the main one was dropped)?the flying pig wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 1:25 pmthe talk is that ronaldo is going to saudi. would be a shame imo. he doesn't even vaguely need to chase the money. he should be going somewhere with a good lifestyle for him and his kids. why not the MLS?
Edit to add: I don't much care where he goes so long as he's no longer news worthy.
