The topping the group thing is relevant. Looking ahead to the next round, short of muscle memory associated with previous Dutch excellence I don’t see a lot of difference between the 3 prospective opponents from Group A. Fast forward to the quarters and there is a very real possibility that the Group B winners path leads them to the victor of a France v Argentina Round of 16 tie, whereas the runner-ups path may be the winner of Oz v Poland.

All comes down to personal philosophy as to whether you prefer to take a rival out early doors or to follow the path of least resistance.

Path of least resistance IMO if you make the final its a one off game that could be your day. get as far as possible as easily as possible gather momentum.
