If someone on my flight from Sweden tests positive for covid I have to self isolate for 10 f'in days, even though I have to take a covid test before getting on the flight. Why is my flight more dangerous than a pub in Leeds?

There's nothing to be done about anti vaxxers, they double down and get very aggressive and abusive.
There's nothing to be done about this government, they double down and throw some poor sod under the nearest bus.
I hate people.

We got absolutely hammered during the first wave which played its part, but if you try to get into a public place or transport without a mask you will be challenged.
Vaccine rates are pretty high, over 80%.
Very few idiots comparing the situation to the Nazis.
Some calls for mandatory vaccination but most against it, me included.
I know a few people who are vax resistant but they aren' anti vax as such and accept that this means they may face some restrictions.
Don't think the Spanish are any more intelligent in my experience, but they do have a strong sense of social responsibility.

On Omicron, I've read quite a bit of contradictory stuff. Some of it promising (particularly in terms of severity), some of it not (particularly in terms of evading vaccines), but all of it delivered with the caveat of "it's still early days", etc.
I'm someone who can sort out much of this, and also, understand that the situation on the ground can and will change. Even given that I understand that, the sheer amount of speculation from experts out there is frustrating.
What happened to wait until you know before you speak? Just advise people to get a booster, which they ought to be doing regardless of whether Omicron popped up or not, and give more definitive information on Omicron when they have it.
Because while I may be able to sort it out, many people don't have that trait or don't care to. So they just tune it all out. The rush to say something ... anything leads to a lack of credibility in some sense and continues the erosion much of the public has in the trust of experts, a very dangerous road to go down.

Ego's and social media ain't it. Its part of the whole problem. One says one thing and then another has a different opinion and its so easy to do it now when you can just nip on twitter and say what you think.
I'm in the same boat. This new variant I have no idea what to think. I seen so much said how it's nothing more to worry about compared to other variants to the other extreme that its end of days stuff. But from my very limited knowledge in the field of science I'm would think they are all guessing as this things only been round a few weeks.
I'm at the point where I'm feeling all a bit 'meh' about covid and all the bullshit that goes with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm jabbed, wear a mask where I should but I won't pay much attention anymore to all the so called expert opinions because no can bloody agree. I'm not entirely sure what the covid rules are anymore.

EDIT: We're going to try taking the letter to the local walk in centre on Saturday before booking some random location.

Contrarily, I wonder how many have had the jabs and are saying they haven't, on the basis that the more you get stabbed, the safer you will be. I bet there's a few.

Or they see the writing on the wall re: covid passes.

Yeah more likely this.
