Ibiza? Sounds great. I'm sure the Spanish have got things sorted. I know they had it really bad, but that was months ago. They won't allow any kind of problem to arise. And anyway, the insurance would cover any problems.
Those sunsets in Ibiza are bloody awesome, guaranteed good food and weather.
Love it.

One of my kids bought me bin Crocs for my birthday (as I was wearing the wife’s way-too-small ones to put the bins out.) They’re entirely satisfactory back door shoes as it goes.

i think i need to find somewhere in the UK where we can go on the same dates.

shouldn't be too difficult.

will need to have swimming pool access for the kids [though all uk swimming pools are afaik closed for the foreseeable future].

needs to be self catering so i'll have to at least offer to do all the cooking, cleaning, etc.

will have to be cheaper [because budget etc] than the current booking and probably also more expensive [because stingy bastard, don't want to slum it etc] than the last place.

i've got this.

If it's mainly a holiday for the kids then it's got to be Pontins or Butlins.

They'll love it.

TFP, have you had a look at some of the properties over here on the Causeway Coast. Some great houses and cottages. Drive up to Stranraer and get the ferry. The beaches are superb in and around Portrush / Portstewart!

Actually, if we were taking kids this is what we'd do, but substituting a gîte rural for the tenty bit.

i love a bit of camping but none of that proper camping lark. we've become very fussy about where we go, it's got to have wifi, nice pools, good shade on the pitch, rental for a proper fridge (got to have properly chilled drinks) and be in an interesting area. the kids have their own pop up tents they stay in, leaving us with a large walk in wardrobe, the only bugbear is having an inflatable mattress on the floor as the car and roofbox are so crammed that we can't afford the space to get a raised bed in.

in terms of the site, it can't have too many english on like you get in the dordogne, because they're either incredibly annoying loud public parenters who love ask loudly if tarquin's brushing his teeth properly or teenage yobs from sunderland who shit in the pool. we prefer to go to predominantly dutch sites as we haven't a clue what they're talking about, so the background chatter just adds to the ambience. sleeping in all that fresh air is great, it becomes quite hard to have a hangover and as central and southern france are warm enough at night you tend to stay up drinking til late under the stars.

you make sure you know which way east is to make sure you are in shade in the morning, so you don't get woken at silly o'clock because as soon as the sun comes up the tent normally gets too hot so you carefully work out where the shade is til about 9am. then last year you'd get up to be the first to go swimming in a pool like this....

cheers and it does look nice but we're in London so just too far, you'd be talking a 12 hour journey, most of it driving, don't thikn i could handle that.

Expensive is a relative term.

Last time I went I paid £2200 for the weekend.

One of the lodges with games room, pool table, Xbox, hot tub, sauna, steam room etc.

Was great.

We holiday in the UK every year and I'm often surprised by how much it costs compared to a fortnight in the Med. I suppose we have the added cost of flights and car rental, but a week at a Butlins or Certer Parcs we easily cost over 2000. Always seemed like a lot to me for what they offer so we always end up renting a house somewhere, even that can be expensive a normal year, and this year isn't normal. Everyone is holidaying "at home" so you are really late if you're looking for somewhere to stay this summer.

stop flirting with me you old tart.

there are some decent people, we once made friends with a guy who was big in the company that sponsored birmingham city when they were in the prem so i got a freebie with free drinks and all that in the exceutive boxes and we've some friends from leicester we've bumped into 3 times but more recently we've tried to avoid mixing with other english as they often seem ghastly.
