Those Nespresso things (as an example): are folks telling me they use one of those pods only, per cup, and get an acceptable coffee? Just one?
You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

Wouldnt fucking around emptying and cleaning the pods remove any advantage of buying them for the lazy twats that use them? Nespresso probably only accept returns because they know 99.999% of the folks who use them are too idle to do owt but bin them.

Sounds about right to me...

So 2-3x the advertised cost?

Cappuccino etc take 2 pods as they have a coffee one and a milk one. That’s advertised as 8 drinks per box (16 capsules) Cafe au lait is supposed to be one pod but I like it stronger.

So only one of coffee is what they think a normal human needs?

Coffee for people that don't like coffee, innit.

Yep, that's me :thumbl: . Love a Costa latte, not progressed to proper coffee yet, a small of those keeps me alert for about 16 hours.

There will be no end to the problems afflicting mankind until economists become rulers, or, by some miracle, rulers become economists.

Well, the most efficient choice is no coffee at all. Which in most cases is preferable to instant.

You can with the real Nespresso ones, but I’m a latte drinker so maybe a weaker coffee suits me.

Indeed.
Lasts forever, makes great coffee, cleans in 20 seconds, compost the grounds.
Dunno why anybody uses owt else.

Yeah, the real ones... We ditched those machines (which made me happy because Fuck Nestlé), but before we did I tried a few times, never got a decent coffee out of less than three pods on the lowest volume.

Heaped scoop in the aeropress is probably about three or four pods worth, by mass.

Well, since this is about sustainability rather than quality of coffee (or otherwise), I’m not sure that these are any better than other forms of domestic fresh coffee device. Firstly they boil water when it shouldn’t / doesn’t need to be boiled; secondly stick anything on a stove and at least 60% of the heat energy just heats the air locally. Colour me unconvinced

Indeed. The cost is £4. This is excessive. This is why we have one of those machines sat in the kitchen doing nothing.

My water heating device boils the water in about two minutes.
With the clever lid I can add as much water that's needed for each session of coffee merrimentation.
The downside is I have to pick it up to pour the water out of it.
The upside is I can make six mugs of coffee in under four minutes.

Hooray for Mr Kettle and his brilliant invention and also his clean footprint :thumbl:
Boo, for plastic :thumbd:
