1.5 PPG from here on in would take us to 84, which isn't quite enough.

:thumbl: Phil, just for clarification, are you benchmarking 75 points for play offs and 90 for automatic?

if so there are still 19 teams within a chance of automatic theoretically.

on a side note this stuff always reminds of this...

May morning, hanging round a trapdoor
Saw a girl like I’ve never seen before
I wanna make her mathematically safe
Wanna keep her mathematically safe
Take her up where we’re mathematically safe
Gonna wake up mathematically safe

Mid table there’s nothing much on my fork
It’s alright though ‘cos I can go for my walk
Around Cartmel, mathematically safe
Ain’t no alarm bell, we’re mathematically safe
On a lilo, in a sea of alright

What's the lowest for second?
Got a feeling 84 has been enough in the past.

Indeed I am, seems sensible enough to me at this stage. And yes, 1 game over half distance, in theory the 2nd half of the season could be the complete inverse of the first with Ipswich ending up level with us on 63 points. 19 can reach 90 points but they can't all do it, there's only half the required amount of points available (obviously). There's a reason I've waited until mid season to pull this together, had it in mind for a while.

I have a feeling you're right but when Monk challenged the squad to hit 75, they did exactly that and fell 1 point short of 6th when 72 had previously been enough. Last season Cardiff were 2nd with 90 (3rd got 88); Brighton got 93 the season before (3rd got 85); 2nd and 3rd got 89 in 15/16; 89 was enough for Watford (3rd 86) in 14/15 and 13/14 saw Burnley get 93 (3rd 85).

I'm comfortable with 75 and 90 as targets for 6th and 2nd respectively.

EDIT: Hull were 2nd with 79 in 12/13. Winners Cardiff only had 87 and 68 was good enough for 6th (but Posh went down with 54).

Down in the High Street somebody careered out of Boots without due care or attention
I suggest that they learn some pedestrian etiquette
I.e. sidle out of the store gingerly
Embrace the margin

Fat kids with sausage rolls
Poor sods conducting polls

There's a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets

I try to put everything into perspective
Set it against the scale of human suffering
And I thought of the Mugabe government
And the children of the Calcutta railways
This works for a while
But then I encounter Primark FM
Overhead a rainbow appears
In black and white

Somewhere back on that statto thread I predicted that points would be average / low-ish for auto and playoffs this year. Still think that’s right but I’ll revisit at some point in the next few days.

But, but, you always tell us all loans are completely rubbish WW.

We should be pleased they’ll be making these teams worse.

We've no worries, everything is fine, E. It'll take them months to fit in with the new playing styles.

The season will be long over by the time they get used to the different shape ball that they've played with since they were 8 :thumbl:

I think this argument is capable of taking an inordinate amount of beating, largely though being so dumb it can't tell when it's dead.
You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

I’m delighted to see that Steve Bruce has taken over Sheffield Wednesday, but won’t start until Feb 1st. For ‘personal reasons’.

Turns out he has ‘Watching England v West Indies cricket in the Windies’ on his bucket list and won’t start until after that

This is really one of the most unprofessional things I think I've ever heard in football management. The January transfer window FFS!

Darko Milanic's entire term with Leeds was 1 month and 2 days. He's having nearly that much time just watching cricket!
