His name doesn’t seem to come up in the results.

You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

Thanks all, done. Very tough but amazing atmosphere and experience. Feet look a bit fucked now.

Just about recovered from this now - though my knees probably disagree with you. It was fucking ridiculously hard. I had done fuck all training, forgot to pack a sleeping bag, or a sleeping mat. Temps and humidity were unrelenting. Managed a long standing knee tendon issue ok for the first two days, but then the rest I couldn't do downhills at all. Got the shits at the end of day three. At least being in a jungle I had loads of leaves to help me out. But still had to make at least 15 pit stops a day so my arse could vomit. Some of the monkeys didn't like me doing that. I left my only pair of running shorts at the first camp, so did the rest in boxer shorts. But I finished it, and it was absolutely amazing and I reckon I'll probably end up doing another ultra event in a few years time!

Can still donate if you like, and get me that little bit closer to my target.

Fair play to you. I've been looking at the Comrades in South Africa, but the thought off 30 extra miles after a marathon is rather off-putting (I'm usual in tatters at the end of 26.2, irrespective of how hard I've run it)

I watched a good documentary yesterday about the Hong Kong 4. It combines all four ultra trails in Hong Kong, 298km worth, and you run it all consecutively. And the aim is to do it under 60 hours. You don't have to pay an entry and you don't get a trophy or medal. Sounds very tempting to try...

Anyway, it's a good watch and it's called Breaking the 60.

Blimey. Is that on any well-known streaming services?

My navigation skills are non-existent, that's one thing that puts me off massive trail runs. That and a general lack of fitness

Cheers, I will check it out

Just googled the race and it's absolutely 100% too rough for me. No finishers in the first 5 years? I may just as well enter the Barkley!

I am to running what Welsh is to stable marriages so I know fuck all about anything longer than 100m at which I was pretty good. But, a mate of mine did the Marathon des Sables a good few years back and having completed it said it was the most frightening and painful thing he has ever done, including nearly being rammed by a tanker in the middle of the Atlantic. He’s an adventurous sort but vowed never to do the desert thing ever again.
