Cities one is interesting; amazing to think Beijing was 700k in the 1500s.

It's all a bit arbitrary now since it's based on administrative boundaries and definitions. For example San Francisco and LA are themselves relatively small on a world scale, but you could argue that most of California is effectively a single super-conurbation.

These are really great. Having dinner with two coders later, will pass on.
You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

I think they're very silly. What's wrong with traditional line charts, where you can, y'know, see values for multiple series in multiple time periods *at the same time*?

Someone posted one on Twitter about the wealthiest European regions which was good too, but I can’t find it now.

If all cars had to be fitted with speed and acceleration limiters, it's kind of interesting to speculate how many people would still buy Lambos etc purely so as to get backache.

Yeah, I've occasionally thought how, if I ever won the lottery, purchasing a couple of fancy sports cars would not be very high on my list of things to do. Six feet four inches doesn't fit very well in most of them

Nor does 20 stone +
We had a meeting at work today and I was asked what steps I would take in the event of a fire. Apparently "fucking big ones" wasn't the right answer
