True dat.
That bit of the city at the bottom of Westgate with the YEP building and the pool was a horror for decades. I useter go to school on the 74 bus down Burley Rd and it were a depressing start to the day to see that at 8:30 every morning I tells thee.

It is, but I get the feeling in years to come people will be reminisce about it and wish it had been saved. Especially as it will probably be replaced by a faceless office block.

Yes but you knew what time it was - and what the temp was. Highlight of my bus journey from Pudsey that was - seeing all that new age fangled technology up there back in the 70's :cat: :alien:

You didn't though, the time and temp displays were allus wrong.
Town Hall clock however .... never more than a minute out. The depression lifted when I got off the bus at the Town Hall steps, what a fuckin building that is ...

I recently got given a rather lovely mug from the city gallery with a drawing of notable Leeds buildings on it. The Town Hall makes the cut, whereas the YP building, of course, doesn't...

The YP building holds some good memories for me because when I was little we always went by it to go to Elland Road. I knew it wouldn't be long before I would be sat in my seat.

This is great. Aerial photos of Leeds taken in 1951 during the Festival of Britain, so there are Spitfires parked on Woodhouse Moor. Amazing detail from military grade cameras on six routes across the city; naturally the RAF were going to burn the lot, but a chap on the Secret Leeds forum has managed to save them.

I keep looking at that and trying to find something redeeming. Nope, still looking. It'll be cheap though, having been VE'd to within an inch of its life?
The fact that we are not taking care of the planet, our children will pay the consequences. With football it will be the same because we're destroying football and in the future we'll see the negative effects. Those who have power are responsible for it.

Apparently it's only the roof that's fucked beyond repair so hopefully they can sort it. That said, it's been refurbished and empty for bloody ages without anyone doing anything with it.

Anyone not think this was an insurance job?
