Didn't realise until now that Alyssa Healy was married to Mitchell Starc. Apparently they met playing cricket as children. Heart-warming stuff.

This proposed new Hundred competition really is degenerating into a complete farce. Aside from the ECB it is hard to find anyone enthused by its inception. Who exactly is this mythical new huge untapped audience that the ECB presumes it's going to attract. And by 2020 it's quite possible that T10 will have replaced T20 anyway.

What business would actually seek to disenfranchise nearly half it's hardcore fanbase. English county cricket already has a good sized domestic following in the short form of the game, unlike many other cricket playing countries. Long established local rivalries will go out the window. The current T20 tournament continues to grow quickly in spectator numbers so why not just advertise/market it even further, at a fraction of the cost, and job done.

I saw in the Cricketer that the SF 49'ers chief executive [Paraag Marathe] has recently taken up chairmanship of USA Cricket, and now they are re-joining the ICC.
Less money for us maybe?

Jennings. First to fall, for a measly 17.

And ended top scorer.

Fuck me.

Quite like how Joe Root dealt with the alleged homophobic sledging. Shut it down quickly on the pitch & then refused to disseminate what had been said afterwards, thus denying it a wider audience. It’s a good sign when sportsmen, who by definition are alphas of sorts, refuse to normalise homophobia.

Yeah, really impressed by the way he dealt with the situation.

Is he married? ;)

Most impressed he simply said what he said on the field, not explicitly to the stump mike.
Not for show, just because it was the right thing to say.
The way he’s handled it off the field only demonstrates more class.

Sri Lanka have been absolutely woeful in the past six months so fair play to them for putting on a record last wicket stand of 78 to win the first test in South Africa by one wicket.
