Because my FiL walked in from the pub, demanded to watch Doc fucking Martin, and the birthday step Devi wanted to play PS on t’other telly, so I had to watch the last 14 overs on my poxy fucking phone?
I'm keeping all my negativity for the cricket. Is Moeen on some form of rehabilitation therapy selection process? I know he had one good innings against Pakistan but he's currently only bowling one (poor) over per match. Currently I think Joe Root is a better spin bowler and he can bat a bit.
Interesting point about Root. He showed he can keep the scoreboard ticking over in the ODI WC. He doesn’t usually hit sixes but by that point boundaries would probably do. Ali a shadow of his former self.
Dawid Malan is now top of the world T20i rankings for batting. It'd be hard to drop him at this point. Both Roy and Bairstow have looked a touch vulnerable of late, not to mention Ali. Banton has been decent but Billings considerably less so.
I'd be interested to see something like this, with Root acting as a part time spinner but also there in case there's a proper collapse and you just need someone to manoeuvre the field etc.
Roy Buttler Bairstow Malan Morgan Stokes Root Rashid Jordan Wood Archer
I've been a bit disappointed with Jordan this summer - too many 4 balls and his famous ability at the death appears to have diminished. In a similar fashion, Archer is unreliable and expensive. Although Tom Curran looks a miserable sod, his bowling under pressure has been quite impressive
England look a bowler short today (which probably means there will be a batting collapse). Given that Ali has only bowled a single poor over in each of the T20s recently, it seems a bit risky to expect him to bowl 10 decent overs today. No doubt Root can bowl a few but there's no real cover if one of the bowlers becomes a bit expensive.
Really good bowling yesterday and Archer seems to have justified his presence in the short format teams. I feel like if nowt else this visit by Australia has emphasised that Warner is done in this country, seemingly in all formats. Would be sad to see such a talented player on the decline if he wasn't, y'know a bit of a prick and also a cheat.
It'd be really good to make a score on Wednesday, we've not set a particularly impressive total in any of these matches against Australia.
