Ha ha ha that's amazing. The massive power of wi-fi access!

I can pretty much get my lads (19 & 17) to do what the fuck I want with the threat of wi-fi removal. They called me on it a year ago and I barred their phones etc from accessing it for a week, not had an issue since. Well apart from the usual Kevin impressions (it's not fair, why me etc etc).
Been away from posting for too long, but still been lingering around like a bad fart.

Just had a daft speed-drinking thing for one of the kids’ birthdays, then got into a conversation with them about holidays when they were little.

The random detailed shit they all remember from odd places is mad. It’s very strange when you compare their memories of events with yours, and put it into context with what you remember of your own childhood.

So we provisionally booked student accommodation for the lad in Manc. Got a contract today with a couple of weeks to sign. If we do, we have to pay the full year if he ‘chooses not to go’

I think, in present circumstances, that can fuck a very long way off.

You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

Dunno whether you’re posting less because you can’t face it or she’s not who she used to be, but well done anyway :thumbl:

I'm resigned to who she is  (though there's been more positive signs since lockdown oddly enough).

In fairness, it's just been more of the same rather than the feared escalation, in public there still no problems, in school there's only teen drama, behind closed doors it's a constant battle.

Literally exactly what my mate JP does, as it goes

Personally I think he's missed a trick by making all the online shit paid for - he'd have done better right now by chucking up free shit to push the brand for now - but whatevs.

Yeah, agreed. Might drop him a line and offer him some support.

Those on the hunt for a vaccine should simply hire a couple of teenagers.

After all, they apparently know fucking everything...

Been in touch with the provider (Unite) and asked what happens if they don't start 'til January or if the course is online for the year, or part of it. They said they 'don't yet have a policy' but the booking deadline (tomorrow) holds. Bollocks to that then.

Elder daughter is starting a part-time MA in Brighton in September. Less concerned about that because MAs are more about self-directed learning and shit, so it matters very little if it's mostly online.

Middle one was going to start a PGCE but reckons she'll wait a year.

Be interested to know what anyone else is hearing from their kids' unis.

Absolutely fuck all so far, all going ahead as planned unless advised otherwise. Thanks, really fucking helpful.

the wife* was saying that cambridge(?) uni have committed to doing online learning until september 2021, which could well be a precedent.

(*i wasn't fully listening)
increasing doubt, decreasing hope, even my imaginary friend went and changed his mind.
