You think? I think he'll keep them up and it might be at our expense, a proper decent manager replacing a joke.
He might keep them up, but I doubt it. They are shit.
The only thing I'd be interested to see is how he tries to set them up. Will he do anything different or be as boring as before?
And it will be our own results that keep us up or not. If we go down, it won't be because any other one club put us there.

I'm never sure what that statement is supposed to mean, very easy to write, but whatever our results the position we finish always depends on the results of other teams. Our results, three draws and three loses from six are shit, we are 18th in the form table, only EVERTON and Southampton are worse.

If you don't put 40 points in the board you shouldn't be surprised to go down. If you don't put 35 on the board you should be very surprised if you stay up. In between you should be thanking other teams for being shitter if it's enough, not blaming them for being fewer shit if you go down.
If we were to reach 42+ and still go down (I believe this would be a new record) then we could definitely say the good form/run by X is why we went down but otherwise it's simple: take care of yourself and don't leave yourself needing favours.

West Ham went down with 42 in the 02/03 so obviously other clubs results are important, and you won't convince me of anything else. Quite obviously our results can keep us up if other teams don't do ever better. Seven points in Feb will convince me we can stay up without relying on others results, while I'l be pleasantly surprised if we get four from the next five games.
Our best hope lies in the ability of our attacking players to pass and shoot, such that we can be leading at half time, thus avoiding Marsch re-stating the tactical plan the team had ignored in the first half. If McKennie can use some of the grass on the right hand side of the pitch, that would also aid our chances.

Yeah, I thought 42 was the record needed to survive, not the record to after go down. You are correct on that.
Like I said, if we get that but go down it's reasonable to point to whatever team goes from currently below us to above at the end of the season. But aside from rare outliers the basic target doesn't change: 40 points to be sure, 38 probably enough. Any team who can't achieve that deserves to go down (we were fortunate last season).
If I could be bothered, or Gaz were here, someone could illustrate why Jackos is right but that the weight is much more on all clubs than any one.
I.e. as others point out, any one shit club going on a run can heavily affect our fate, but nowhere near as much as the other 18 clubs we're not talking about (the aggregate points against whom our points total derives from).
So you're right Jackos, and wrong. Depending how you look at it
You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later.

Oh I know, my starting point is that we're shit and ain't improving fast enough. Mates in Leeds tell me they see an improvement, and I probably do as well, but 3 points from six is relegation form. So my conclusion is that if we're going to stay up it'll be because other teams are even worse than us. Everton with Dyche are, imo, less likely to be that than they were with FFL.
tarkowski apparently hates dyche which may complicate things. let's hope so.
oh
fucking fucker goes and makes me look daft.
i did hear an interview with him after whilst driving around. question "will having sean dyche in charge make you less likely to be relegated?" response "we just need to focus on the next game, blah blh blah. totally sidestepped mentioning dyche.
which i am taking as evidence for the original claim, which did come from a decent source inside the old burnley dressing room.
increasing doubt, decreasing hope, even my imaginary friend went and changed his mind.
I think today was to have been FFL's day but Dyche stole FFL's victory. All Everton fans should go to their room and think about the harm their actions have caused.
