A mate of mine was talking about him last month after hearing the rumours before (hes American so has watched this kid a bit) and i was like naah don't believe it. he said he's an exciting talent now we have actually bid for him I'm feeling like I want him to come.

I’m not too concerned about the past. I tend to think when this much money is involved it all boils down to business is business.

The fact it’s come out publicly that we’ve actually bid does also suggest it’s some way advanced. As we learned from various articles about the transfer market, clubs are talking to each other constantly about players and deals but it’s not until right near the very end that an actual bid comes in. One would suspect Leeds have been given some kind of indication that there is an opportunity at the right price.

I'd usually say the same but when we have probably been viewed in their eyes as pretty unscrupulous operators on past (and ongoing?) negotiations there is a reasonably big chance of a sour taste.

While in the summer that usually seems to be the case that the bid being tabled will lead to a transfer in the end, I'll point to Daniel James and Che Adams in the last two Januarys we were actually shopping as evidence that even if encouraged to start bidding there are few more potential hiccups

RB must have been holding their breaths, crossing everything, that the JKA deal would get over the line, they must have known full well that we were being duped into overpaying on an unimaginable scale, £18m for a guy who was worth far less than nothing once his wages were taken into account. maybe they [assuming that the various RB offshoots sometimes behave as a single entity] see us as mugs who they're happy to deal with.

They'd probably chalk it up as a win if they got ~£5m too much from us now then lost out at CAS in March, even if it's across different entities of their business. They didn't pay JKA to leave, they just said he wasn't theirs any more, they've probably already won on that deal through avoiding a payoff.
