Might as well have a thread for it. I was just thinking who we lose.

None of them going beyond the quarters, it'll be fine.
Is Rasmus a full international? Can probably discount Dieng as it stands and I think Rodrigo falls into remote rather than probable.

Isn't Meslier a possibility? Assuming France take 3 keepers, Lloris is presumably first choice and possibly Maignan as second but I'm not sure (have no knowledge of football in France) that Lafont who was the U21 keeper before Meslier, is a more likely third choice as young player taken for experience.

Given that we’re a couple of months away and he’s never been called up for the first team, I’m assuming not.

Google says: Lloris (35), Maignan (27), Areola (29), Mandanda (37) are the first 4 options. Given Lafont kept Meslier out until he became too old for the U21s you'd think he's higher up the list too.Bobbycollins wrote:Isn't Meslier a possibility? Yeah but, Areola has played 3 games for France, the most recent in 2019; Mandanda aged 37 hasn't played for France since 2020, so I reckon it's a shoot-out between Lafont and Meslier, with the latter being one year younger, however with Meslier now having two years of premier League experience, it's a question of whether Meslier or Lafont have made the most progress. I have no idea which is why I suggested Meslier might be a possibility.Phil LUFC wrote:Google says: Lloris (35), Maignan (27), Areola (29), Mandanda (37) are the first 4 options. In fairness I’ve put Marc Roca as a possible and it would probably need 8-10 injuries before he gets a look in, so Illan’s not dissimilar.

Struijk in Holland’s next provisional squad so there’s one more for the list

Christ, I like Pascal well enough but fair to say he's no Frank de Boer or whoever...MightyWhite wrote:Struijk in Holland’s next provisional squad so there’s one more for the list

Re: Qatar 2022 kill the slave labour World Cup
I wondered about Pascal and the last I remember reading was that he hadn’t formally committed to either Belgium or the Netherlands. He’d be a shoo-in at CB for a minor nation, so I guess it’s not inconceivable.MightyWhite wrote:Struijk in Holland’s next provisional squad so there’s one more for the list

I would think you can take Llorente off the list of Probables.
