Rumors are that the songbird has gone her own way, no little lies.

I hope not, if only because I had Lindsay Buckingham in my longlist for 2023, he's looking exceptionally frail. this might give people ideas.

also, she was obscenely attractive back in the day.

[edit] - oh, mcvie? who cares. the stuff she did lead vocals on was always abysmal.

Harsh. A truly brilliant singer, songwriter, arranger and generally a decent sort too. Wrote a modest smattering of their best songs and managed to get them through the extremely lean times between the blues and pop eras.

Not sure about brilliant.
They hit their mark perfectly, right time, right place. Half a dozen very good pop songs, a few of them hers.
Mirrors and copulation are abominable, since they both multiply the numbers of men.

Across their whole discography she penned about 20 or so genuinely good to great songs, which is more than many, if not most songwriters get. There are few clangers in there but the best are as good as anyone wrote for the band (which in no small boast given the number of decent songwriters who passed through the ranks at various times).

She was my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac and that's saying something because I really admire Lindsey Buckingham too.

The songs she sings are my favorites. She was a really good pairing with Buckingham. Their voices melded very well together and his best guitar work (on their hits, anyway) is almost always paired with McVie. "Hold Me" is a good example of it. She could also hold her own on the keys.

As mentioned in your earlier post, she bridged the gap from Mac's blues era to the Buckingham Nicks mega-years. The Bob Welch-Danny Kirwan years are very good too. Unfairly overlooked.

Her solo songs in the 80s were baseline, but still welcome. Pleasant like her Mac stuff.

Also, she seemed like the only normal person in the band, to the degree any of them come off as normal. Seemed from the outside that she was never the catalyst of the drama that swirled around Mac at all times.

She will be missed. I always thought she was much cooler than Stevie Nicks, who got skads more attention.
