Re: The state of UK politics
Sunak's ethics advisor is Sir Laurie Magnus.
He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford, and is the 3rd Baronet of Tangley Hill, a title he inherited upon the death of his uncle, Sir Philip Magnus-Allcroft in 1988. He has a four-decade career in finance in the City of London.

Re: The state of UK politics
Sunak previously promised to publish a summary of the Independent Adviser's report, whereas Labour and the press were looking for the full report. Now that Zahawi has been sacked, does that mean even the summary will not be published? As regards his successor, it must be Mad Nad to follow Bad Nad.

No chance of the report being published. That's one of the reasons for sacking him.Bobbycollins wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:46 amSunak previously promised to publish a summary of the Independent Adviser's report, whereas Labour and the press were looking for the full report. As to the replacement: has to be a Brexiteer.

Man A who says he didn't advise man B was named in official memoranda as someone who man B should no longer seek advice from.

Re: The state of UK politics
I missed this earlier. Typically it's all about him "He threatened me at one point, and he said, 'Boris, I don't want to hurt you but, with a missile, it would only take a minute' or something like that". Perhaps we could agree with Putin to send Johnson to some desolate, deserted place, such as a rural train station in the north and he can send the missile in that direction. Shame these phone calls are never recorded, but luckily we can rely on the proven truthfulness of our great leader.Mustafaster wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:04 amRees Mogg on the move for the Zahawi gig.

He knows it, we know it, and he knows that we know it.
But ... keeps him on the front pages.
Next week, a trip to Washington or another spin around Kyiv.
Mebbe he could nip over to the middle east and fix the Palestinian problem.

"You know, before the PM gave me this huge responsibility I hadn't fully realised how religiously important The Holy Land was, and not just to Christians like me. It's actually quite crowded, and there are apparently some significant differences of opinion about how things should be which I'm really looking forward to learning more about while I solve them..."

Re: The state of UK politics
I have heard this kind of talk over here.
A ceasefire is no good unless the Russians fuck off back home - which they won't.
How stupid are these people?
If we let Putin have any of Ukraine now, then he will come back for more.

in other news, Lizzie Truss's paymasters seem to trying to squeeze one last kidney stone of wisdom out of her... not, I'm guessing, to a rapturous reception.

Re: The state of UK politics
Corbyn would have engaged Putin early on and told him, “Look Vlad this is completely wrong”
I guess he missed how well trying to appease Putin went for Germany. No surprise. Fucking idiot.
